Hello, Darlings.
I come to you with a revelation, a truly inspiring young woman, who
has touched my heart and soul.
Never
mind the glib crap. Watching Lourds
perform was like watching the eruption of a volcano. She was that
awe-inspiring, she was great, and she was terrible to behold. Her
outpouring of energy was so completely natural. Everything that
happens in nature should happen, and Lourds was no exception. Her
music was the ugly truth, and the beautiful reality. She happens,
and she happens for a reason. And like the volcanoes of ancient
times, her performance demands a sacrifice; Listen, hear, open up,
be true, to yourself and others. Join in, or get the hell out of
the way.
She
has a pretty wild stage show at times, but as I saw on Tuesday,
she doesn't need make-up, or make believe. She has her presence,
her energy, That's what really creates the show and makes the magic
and stays with you.
I
was not surprised to learn that she had a classical background.
I got the sense of a star-shaped peg pulling itself out of a square
hole. She has a soulful quality, a sense of poetry, and melody,
However, she doesn't wallow in flowery, sugary bullshit. What ever
she has to say, she says it loud and clear. I was particularly grabbed
by "The Circus Song" and "I'm a Queen."
"The
Circus Song" spoke to me of being stuck, and pulling free,
of whatever crap that holds you, and hurts you. Never mind self
recrimination, it happens to everybody. And then you move on, and
what happens next is up to you.
"I'm
a Queen" was even more special to me. (I know, I know, I'm
a Goddess, but still.) It was both personal, and general. Lourds
IS a queen-because she says so. It's about being great because you
just are, and it's about the fact that no one else's' greatness
detracts from yours. As far as Lourds is concerned, every one is
a Queen.
I
think that was the greatest thing to me about her performance. Everybody's
been to the "circus". Everybody is a "queen".
Everybody soars like an "angel". She shares the things
that mean something to her, but at the same time, her sense of empathy
and human connection are such, that you almost feel that she's listening
to you, sharing yourself.
And
lets face it, isn't that what any live show should be?
